--- a garden variety Family Dance Band, specializing in dances for the very young and the young-at-heart. |
Any musician is welcome as a sit-in* to play with the band. Dance caller, Paul Rosenberg, leads everyone through a variety of simple and easy-to-learn traditional and international folk dances from America and around the world. You never need to bring a partner.
The band is often comprised of fiddle, guitar, and flute/whistle, with light percussion (hand drums, tambourine, etc) and sometimes a piano added to the mix. We've also had -- hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, washboard, piano, banjo, bass, various wind instruments and a variety of drums join us.
Family Dances have been held at/for -- Churches, schools, community groups, festivals, birthdays, etc --
Regularly scheduled Family Dances are held Nov-March, from 4pm-5:30pm, and are followed by a pot luck dinner. Dance date and location information may be found at: www.danceflurry.org.
*Sit-in musicians (non-paid) of any ability, and any age, may join the band . We prefer acoustic instruments that might fit traditional fiddle music.
